Krill oil is rapidly becoming the sought after nutritional supplement. Our Elite Krill formulation consists of 100% pure krill oil and very powerful antioxidants containing Omega-3 fatty acids and astaxanthin to protect cells from damage. All Krill oil products naturally contain a very small amount of an important compound called astaxanthin. Krill Oil is superior to fish oil and shows greater effectiveness. Fish oil has the tendency to oxidize immediately when it’s being extracted from the fish and exposed to the air, so it loses its nutritional value quickly over time- krill oil does not. Krill is actually the most stable sea life oil. Fish oil has a shorter shelf life and can turn rancid so it can actually increase your chance of blood clots and heart disease. Krill oil has no fishy smell or taste and does not leave you with the “burpiness” like regular fish oil.
The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends consuming omega-3 fatty acids regularly in the diet. However, in food, omega-3 fatty acids are found in fatty fish. When we are under stress and during the normal aging process, our bodies may lose the ability to produce high levels of the antioxidants that are normally produced internally. Therefore, our bodies are subjected to high levels of oxidation caused by environmental factors such as pollution, contaminants, processed food and the high levels of stress in modern life. The antioxidant potency of krill oil was found to be 48 times more potent than fish oil using an ORAC score. The ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) value or score is a method of measuring the antioxidant capacity of different foods and supplements and was developed by scientists at the National Institutes of Health. It is believed that foods higher on the ORAC scale will more effectively neutralize free radicals. Numerous ORAC tests have proven that krill oil effectively repairs aging cells when compared to other antioxidants.
The results of a study published in the American Journal of Nutrition highlighted the effects of krill oil on chronic inflammation and arthritic symptoms. The study was conducted by Western University in collaboration with McMaster University. Findings revealed that krill oil reduced pain by 28.9%, stiffness by 20.3% and functional impairment by 22.8%. Moreover, results indicated that krill oil "significantly inhibits” inflammation and reduces arthritic symptoms within a short treatment period of 7 and 14 days.
Another study at the University of California, Berkley, suggested that low levels of Omega-3s, may contribute to cognitive decline. Findings indicate that regular consumption of a source such as krill oil can considerably improve cognitive function. Moreover, a study of adults with attention difficulties showed 46% improvement in mental concentration and 48.9 % mental focus after 90 days of taking krill oil supplements.
Key Ingredients
Krill Oil contains the powerful antioxidants omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. However krill oil has them in the form of phospholipids, the same chemical structure as those found in the membranes of our cells. These compounds are the building blocks of membranes for every cell in the body and brain. Therefore krill oil is nearly 100% absorbable, which make it more effective at lower doses than fish oil. Antioxidants are compounds that are important to the body and used in every cell. In the body these compounds provide protection from damaging molecules, known as free radicals. However, depletion of the antioxidant systems may induce a state wherein the defenses of tissues are overwhelmed by excess radical molecules and are then vulnerable to damage. Free radicals cause aging of the cell and body as well as disease.
AstaREAL® Astaxanthin is one of the strongest natural antioxidants and the most studied astaxanthin. Research shows it is 550 times stronger than Vitamin E and 40 times stronger than beta-carotene. Astaxanthin's unique structure, being fat soluble with water loving ends, it fastens itself vertically through all cellular layers, giving the cell better protection inside and out.
